Module 2: The Kneeling Position
Upper Body Position
The shoulders and body should be straight and relaxed with the target so the body absorbs the recoil when the shot is released.
The right elbow drops naturally.
The left elbow rests just behind the top of the knee.
The left arm and wrist stay straight, not turning over in either direction.
The sling attaches to the handstop, is directly over top of the centre of the elbow, and extends from the left arm.
The sling is tight enough to support the weight of the rifle.
The butt plate hook sits in the same position in the arm pit for each shot to ensure consistent height.
Butt height can adjust the height of the rifle.
The amount of filling in the kneeling roll can also adjust the height of the rifle.
The elbow, sling, and shoulder stabilize the position.
There should be as close to equal pressure in the hand and shoulder as possible.
Adjust the hand stop outward, to put more pressure into the shoulder.
To gain a lot of pressure in the shoulder, the butt plate can be extended outward, toward the shoulder.
However, this can cause the angle of the body to turn away from the target, which would cause issues with balance and the body absorbing the recoil.
Adjusting the length of the rifle can change the angle of the body.
