Module 3: The Standing Position
The Base
Foot Position
The position should be developed with the support of the bone structure and ligaments.
When muscles are used, the stability decreases and movement of the rifle increases.
Develop the position from the ground up as the feet are the building blocks for providing stability to the position.
The feet should be shoulder width or slightly further apart.
The left foot is parallel to the target.
The athletes weight should be equally distributed across both feet or slightly more on the front foot.
The athletes weight should be distributed equally on the toes and heels of the feet.
The rear toe can be pointed out slightly to improve balance
The Leg And Pelvis Position
The legs should be straight but not hyperextended, with minimal muscles being used to support the legs.
The pelvis (hips) are in line with the target and not twisted in any way, reducing the muscle tension and strain on the back.
The hips are pushed towards the target and remain straight to reduce tension in the back leg
