Module 1: The Prone Position
The Body
The body remains relaxed.
The athlete should not strain to reach the trigger.
The shoulders should be level so there is no muscle tension in the shoulders.
The body should absorbs the recoil so the shoulders should remain square with the target.
The body is on a slight angle (20 to 30 degrees) to the target so the vertebrae and leg stay in a straight line.
The right knee is brought up on an angle, so the diaphragm is off of the ground, making it easier for the athlete to breath in position.
The bone structure stays in line to reduce tension and absorb the recoil.
Note:
During a three position match, an athlete has the choice as to whether or not they wish to wear shooting boots and pants in the prone position.
